We were reluctant to watch it at first since the advertisements made us think it was just another musical about high school, but this was one of the most well-rounded shows we’ve seen. OUR THOUGHTS: Can’t believe we’re saying this, but this is now our favorite musical to date. SYNOPSIS: Four Broadway stars head to a small town in Indiana to save a prom and change the world. Most people start lining up at 11 AM, but the people we talked to at the front of the line had been there since 6 AM on a Wednesday. You can also line up at the Richard Rodgers Theatre early in the morning and wait for cancellations.Rumor has it that if you have a NYC address, you get preferential treatment, but we don’t know for sure. We’ve entered every day for over 6 months with no luck. This also means a ton of people enter though. The Hamilton app makes it so easy to enter the lottery and you can set daily reminders.Here are a few ways to try to score tickets: Luckily, we had a friend in the cast who could get us tickets, but I’m not sure I would wake up at the crack of dawn to wait in line for the possibility of a ticket. If you still haven’t seen it, you should watch it for yourself and see if it meets the hype. PRO TIP: Listen to the music before you go. It wasn’t until we listened to the music after that we started to understand the genius behind it all. Our main issue is that we didn’t enjoy it as much during the show.
We heard from all our friends that this is the best show out there and it can’t be overhyped, but we have to disagree. It’s brilliantly written, entertaining, educational (how much do you actually know about Alexander Hamilton?), the cast is talented, and the production is great.
